31. Stand above the clouds

The third day (in my mind it was a Wednesday but I'm pretty sure it
was Sunday) we got up early and went to Robben Island. It was the
place where most caught political activists ended up. Nelson Mandela
spent some time here as well. I even got to see his cell. The
coolest part about the tour/trip was that our guides were ex-cellmates
at Robben Island. So they all knew firsthand the experience.

After that (it took a lot of the day), we ran back to the ship,
changed, and took a taxi to Table Mountain. I thought it was going to
be very similar to Stone Mountain in Atlanta. How wrong I was. It is
above the clouds. It was amazing. You could either hike (2-3 hours
of mountain climbing) or take the gondola. I really wanted to hike it
but because of the lack of time before the sunset we had to take the
gondola. Table Mountain is in contention for the new 7 wonders of the
world.

At night we went to a club in Camp's Bay. It was very nice with very
nice looking people. We learned later that there was a model
convention (or something) in town. There was this band called
Goldfish playing (I guess they're all the rage in SA). It was their
last night of the summer playing (yes it's the endish of summer here)
so the place was packed.

PS. One of my friends bought a SA Cosmo. It's so great. It only
has a few minor differences. For example one of the questions they
asked guys was, "Are you attracted to multiple races?" I think 44%
said they're attracted to one race and the other 66% said they're
attracted to all. At first I thought nothing of this question until I
realized that they only abolished the apartheid in 1994! That's
during my lifetime. So this question most likely has a lot of weight
in SA.
