30. Live through a tropical cyclone

I'm sorry for my language but shit has hit the fan on the boat. We
are between two tropical cyclones. It was great because Ross heard
one of the crew talking about a tropical storm so we looked it up and
discovered it has been named tropical cyclone Irina. Yes. It has
been named. How cool is that???!! So we started slowly starting the
rumor that we were going through a tropical cyclone.

It gets way less cool because it hasn't been that bad (nothing story
worthy) and now we don't get to get off in Mauritius (because 1.
We've been avoiding the storms and 2. We've had to slow down).
AHHH! We have to live though 11 days of ship food.

People are angry. Writing petitions and the like. It's great. I'm
not too upset because clearly our captain knows what he's doing. I
don't think he's cancelling it or going slow just to piss us off.

I also hear that from Mauritius to India we sail at pretty high speeds
to avoid the pirates. (Our ship can easily outrun any pirate ship…
we're the fastest cruise liner in the world. This is also why we feel
so much rocking. It's not made to go slow.) So I think that if we
were able to stay longer in Mauritius we actually wouldn't be able to
make up the time because we're already scheduled to be sailing pretty
fast.

Anyways, that's the latest gossip/buzz around the ship. Fun stuff.

PS. You know how I was talking about how my extended family mom was
getting off in Cape Town and we were hoping to get adopted by new
people getting on the ship. Welll….we were adopted! By the ex-
Senator Chuck Robb and his wife Lynda Johnson Robb (she is LBJ and
Ladybird Johnson's daughter). Isn't that sweet?? One of my bros got
the senator dessert and all I could think of was the time that Grandpa
forced me to ask Senator Kohl if he wanted a dessert.

Sidenote: The top items of SAS:

Havaianas- Check. (It's even cooler if you have the ones
from Brazil)

Macs- Check

Sperry's- Check

Water bottles- Check

Sea sickness patches, arm bands, and Dremamine- Check
(but I haven't used any yet)

SAS gear- Check (only a fleece [since I didn't bring any
sweatshirts]) I swear my roommate has bought half of the store.

iPads- Check

Football (Soccer) Jerseys (from Ghana/Brazil)- No check
(almost though)

Belts- Check. Only one though. Definitely not enough.

Question of the Day: What has been the best day of your life? If you
email me yours, I'll tell you mine.
