edenic version popularized by movies, books, and even
environmentalists. This next sentence is where I should tell everyone
how wrong Disney is. And they are but not really. Jaguars, monkeys,
toucans, and crocodiles exist but they aren't running around
everywhere in the same screenshot.
It would be like showing someone a picture of our forest and having a
bear sitting on the ground, a deer bounding in the foreground, some
ants building a hill, and a squirrel chilling on a branch. Doesn't
really happen in real life even though all of the animals you would be
able to find in WI.
Being here makes me realize that the rainforest isn't that exotic.
It's just different. The wildlife isn't anymore exciting. Again,
just different. I'm sure if you told anyone here about bears in
Wisconsin they'd be terrified and question whether the people are sane
to be living with such dangerous animals. But as anyone in WI knows,
bears don't really pose much threat.
I realize this post doesn't make a lot of sense but I can't really
describe it. Everyone will just have to travel here to experience it
for him/herself.
