Thomas was still sleeping. I knew from the previous day that he'd
probably sleep for a bit so I told him I would go get us water from
the restaurant.
Our room had a sweet old school key. Like one of those big metal
ones. In order to lock the door from the inside you had to insert the
key. Well when I left I locked the door and took the 3-minute walk
along the ocean to the restaurant. There were fishermen pulling in
their catch as the guy (Gobal) from the night before had promised us
there would be. I decided to sit, chill awhile, and watch the event.
I figured I could just relax until Thomas got up and made his way to
breakfast. After 30-45 minutes of sitting there I realized that
without the key Thomas couldn't get out of the room. Bahahahahah.
It ended up not being a problem though because he was still sleeping.
He did say that when he realized, he felt like sleeping beauty or
Rupunzel stuck in her castle.
That day, we relaxed quite a bit. We were waiting for the stupid
elephant to be ready for riding. That was the goal of the entire
trip. First it was out, then sick, then it was at a festival, then on
the way back the truck broke down. At this point we knew it wasn't
suppose to be.
Thomas played in what we thought at first was mud and then learned was
sewage. That was cute.
The train ride back was a complete 180 from the first. We paid the 7
dollar upgrade to AC. It was awesome. So much better. We got a
blanket and our own sleeper cabin thing. When I went to use the
bathroom there were two options! On the left it was labeled "Indian
Style" and on the right "Western Style." I choose Western. The
only thing I'm super grateful for is that I didn't see any chickens,
rats, or roaches (this is unlike many other people's experience).
I have never been happier to see the ship than that day. Because it
was a spur of the moment decision ALL I had was the clothes on my
back. In 90 degree weather and no AC, a person gets disgusting very
fast. I had no deodorant, no comb, no toothbrush. We were gross.
I'm actually surprised they let us on the ship in the state we were in.
PS. The "hotel" had awesome doormats. Our favorite that we
contemplated buying off from them was one that had a picture of a
rhino that said "Look. At. Me." What?? Sooooo funny.
