20. Pay my respects to King Neptune

Yesterday was Neptune Day. What's this you ask? When we cross the
equator we are suppose to pay our respects to Neptune. We didn't do
that when we crossed the first time into Brasil so celebrated it
yesterday.

In order to turn into a shellback from our lowly pollywog status we
get doused with fish guts and then have to kiss a fish. The other
tradition is everyone shaves his or her head. We must have a very
shallow group of girls this voyage because only 7 compared to the
usual 15 girls shaved their heads. One voyage there were 33 girls!!

Obviously I wasn't one of the seven. I brought so many hair care
products that I need to use by the end of the trip (because I'm not
bringing them home) that I couldn't possibly think of shaving it all
off. That would just be wasteful!

But either way now I'm an official shellback (a fish's lips are very
pokey).

Anyways besides the whole not having classes thing, the best part of
the day was TACOS!! According to the back of Brandie/Jess's picture
taco night is infamous. (I can't remember if I said this in another
post…but at the end of every trip people write advice on the back of
the picture that is hanging on the wall. It varies from what to do
in the countries to the best way to hook up with a girl while on the
ship.) We had been teasing about starting a rumor about it being
taco night and seeing how far the rumor would make it. Let's just say
we were laughing our butts off when we realized it actually was taco
night that day.

Speaking of food, it's getting really bad. I keep fantasizing about
what I'm going to eat when I get back. Right now it's lasagna. I
don't even care if it's out of a box. Yesterday I wanted Chipotle
(lots and lots of guac and sour cream), McDonalds (fish filet with
lots and lots of tartar sauce), and Jimmy Johns (lots and lots of
mayo). (hint hint Mom & Dad…I'll pay the $50 to accept the package
as long as it's full of these items).

I also dreamt about lollipops last night. They at least sell these in
the store though. I've already had three. Mom, you would be proud.
No one here has heard of a sucker. They all call it a lollipop so I'm
trying to change my ways. The dumbfound looks I receive when I say
sucker are getting old.

PS. The water now looks like Lake Wissota. It's sooooo calm. It
creeps me out.
